Evlynne Gilvarry

Non-Executive Chair

Evlynne Gilvarry is an experienced Chief Executive with particular expertise in professional regulation. She had a long career at the Law Society, (1987 to 2007) where she worked in various senior roles, promoting the interests of the solicitors’ profession in the UK and internationally during a time of major change for the profession.

Following the Law Society she took on her first Chief Executive role in 2007 with the General Osteopathic Council, the UK regulator of osteopathy, and three years later, went on from there to become Chief Executive of the General Dental Council, the UK regulator of dentistry.

In both roles she led major change programmes to meet new requirements in health regulation.

Evlynne has particular expertise in preparing organisations to respond to key external changes and has successfully lobbied for key legislative changes to improve professional regulation in the UK.

She holds a Certificate in Company Direction awarded by the Institute of Directors and is currently studying to become a chartered director.
