A summer of expansion at MD Communications
It was an exciting summer as I welcomed another little girl to our family, as well as new Partner and Head of our PR team Louise Hood to our leadership team. And I need to buy a running buggy as we have set the date for our 2025 Legal 5k!
That pesky LinkedIn algorithm: to hashtag or not to hashtag?
If you’re wondering about whether hashtags are in or out and if video has killed the written word, then check out my post on LinkedIn, looking at a recently published LinkedIn Algorithm report.
Confused about how to grow your personal brand and optimise your LinkedIn output? Why not book a session with our LinkedIn gurus Emma Maule and Katy McEwen-Smith, who will take you through how to do business development by not selling and instead, being human.
Legal 5k 2025
We’re excited to announce the date for our Legal 5k run next year. Mark Thursday 24 April 2025 in your calendars! Our fun and friendly race in Regent’s Park aims to promote health and wellness in the sector and is open to all levels. All profits go towards a special needs charity, close to my heart as they support my disabled daughter who has extreme, non verbal autism – so you’re doing good whilst being competitive and getting fit! Watch this space for more details.
Pro bono – don’t be afraid to shout about it
My latest blog, for this week’s Pro Bono Week, explains why the sector shouldn’t be afraid of shouting about its pro bono efforts. To find out why and how to make the most of publicising your pro bono work, read my advice.
Thought leadership series
We publish quarterly white papers on topics that affect the sector. Exploring topics from how culture affects recruitment and growth and how GCs are changing legal service to legal directories to our annual ‘What Lies Ahead’ state of the union report on what’s keeping legal leaders up at night, our white papers are drafted on key topics based on our experience and our global network of contacts. We consult leading journalists and commentators who add their voice and insight to our own knowledge and experience.
What Lies Ahead 2025 – take part in our research
This week we kick off our research for our annual paper ‘What Lies Ahead?’, a series of interviews, roundtable discussions and data from leaders in the sector on what is keeping them awake at night as they look to 2025. If you would like to be interviewed, please drop our research team a line.

Workplace culture: 39% of leaders thought WFH had negative effects
Download our latest white paper, which explores the impact of culture in the legal sector. We surveyed 150 law firms, chambers, and legal departments which showed that 95% of respondents see workplace culture as crucial to business success. Findings highlighted the challenges facing firms, such as navigating hybrid working arrangements. Despite the enormous benefits of flexible working, 39% of leaders thought working from home had negatively affected workplace culture.
With only one third of respondents feeling that their firm’s culture is very good, the report outlines the opportunity open to firms when balancing flexibility with their goals of diversity, equality, and employee satisfaction.

And finally…
Look out for the photos of our annual party at the Club at the Ivy at the end of the month and the highlights from our next Managing Partner breakfast roundtable. Thank you for all the gifts for Maisie – she’s kitted out in gorgeous outfits until 2027! To the Managing Partner friend who sent me a Rockit (look it up) for the buggy, you might have sent the best gift ever.
