Melissa Davis & MD Communications shortlisted at Women & Diversity in Law Awards

wdl awards finalist

We are thrilled to have been shortlisted in two categories at the Women & Diversity in Law Awards.

CEO Melissa Davis is shortlisted for Business Leader of the Year and MD Communications is shortlisted for Supplier of the Year.

Hosted by The Global Legal Post, the awards honour outstanding women leaders and practitioners, as well as legal teams and businesses driving meaningful change.

The ceremony will take place on 28 April at the London Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square. The shortlist was selected from nearly 350 entries across 32 categories and includes 82 law firms and chambers – from global giants to boutique practices – alongside 27 other businesses and more than a dozen not-for-profit organisations.

Why these awards matter

We were delighted to win Supplier of the Year at the WDL Awards in 2023, so being recognised again, alongside so many brilliant women and organisations, means a huge amount.

These awards matter because they shine a light on:

  • inclusive leadership
  • values-led businesses
  • leaders who care how work is done and how people are treated but also the change to society that progressive, inclusive leadership can bring.

Reasons for shortlisting

We lead pro bono on the PR for the IBA Raising the Bar: Women in Law Project, as well as working pro bono with the InterLaw Diversity Forum and Only Mums & Dads.

We power The Parents Promise (our flagship pro bono project co-founded by CEO Melissa Davis and James Hayhurst), supporting children’s mental health during parental separation. The impact is profound: the 2025 campaign, launched in Parliament, resulted in over 2,000 downloads of parent/teacher resources for children’s mental health. The 2023 campaign convinced major household brands, including Tesco, Unilever and Vodafone, to change their HR policies to better support separating parents.

We host the Legal 5K run, inaugurated in 2024 with 600 runners and now a successful annual event, supported by Law Society leadership with +1000 runners expected this year. The race promotes health and mental wellness across the legal sector while simultaneously raising funds for autism charities, a cause deeply personal to Melissa.

Melissa’s first book, How to PR a Law Firm, was released at the IBA Paris in 2023 to wide acclaim, and she has been featured in Deborah Brightman Farone’s book, Breaking Ground, on BD for female rainmakers.
